When I had a baby on me and others in the cradle, I was working 12 hour shifts sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! It was all falling in place, yet there was still a long way to go. To furnish the home, it was going to be an enormous undertaking both in both time and funds. I would also have to go out and shop for my most-loved items. For my budget to remain in good shape, I went out with my 3 boys looking for bargains in estate sales. Our routine was to walk around auctions and garage sales on Saturday and Sunday, and buy a variety of furniture, both new and old created. I'd spend my workdays at the end of the driveway, working on painting or sanding. What I saw looked something like... that's when my desire to repair furniture started. When our home was fully furnished, I could not put it down! At the local market, I rented a small area and then sold a few items. I eventually had numerous pieces that I did not have a clue what to do with them and outgrew the space. My home was where I would host open houses, where over 1000 people could come in and buy any item they wanted on the first floor within a single weekend. Growing Days is the result of this. Alongside my flourishing business, I also grew our family. I was finding that balance of having starting a business and be a mommy too. Growing Days fit perfectly. In 2013, my daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. My business was booming however I needed a break. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy the time I needed with my children. It was exactly what I needed. Within a couple of months, my phone started to start to. People were calling me and needing help with the interior decoration and remodeling. A majority of those calling me were from those who came to my house at one of my furniture open houses. The time flew by before I managed a large-scale house renovation business. The first step was to take clients one by one with a speed I was comfortable with. Most likely, I would have laughed if someone had told me the business was going to be part of a forthcoming tv program on DIY Network. Actually I still kind of smile when I think about the idea.
